FUNCTIONS- One of the most useful herbs for treating empty Heat.[2]
GROUP: Clearing Internal Heat- Cool Blood
1. Clear deficient Heat.[2,3]
2. Clear Heat and reduce childhood nutritional impairment, due to accumulation with Heat:[3] fever, thirst and irritability.[3]
3. Cools Blood and stops bleeding.[3]
NOTE: If client appears with chronic low fever use deficient Heat herbs for nourishing Yin. Don't use Heat dispersing herbs as they are too strong.[2]

1. Yin deficient fever.[3] Bone steaming fever.[3]
2. Malnutrition fever in children. Infantile debility fever caused from indigestion from worms, malnutrition with conjunctivitis, mild temperature- Liver symptoms.[2]
3. Bleeding symptoms: hemoptosis, epistaxis, uterine bleeding, hematuria due to reckless movement of Hot Blood.[3]
COMBINATIONS
PREPARATIONS: Dry root 3-9 g.[1,2,3] Good quality is long with a pale yellow cortex. The cross section should be round and yellowish white.
