Native to Asia, Australia and French Polynesia
PART USED: Dry root.
Nature: Cool       FLAVOR: Bitter and tart    CHANNEL: Liver, Spleen TOXICITY- Slightly toxic.[1]
FUNCTIONS
1. GROUP: Clear Heat- Neutralize toxins
2. Scatter Blood stasis.[1] Styptic.[1]
3. Antiviral.[1]
4. Contract uterus.[1]
INDICATIONS
1. Prevention against external pathogens- 9 g by itself in decoction 2-3 times daily.[1]
2. Meningitis, Viral pneumonia, Infectious mumps.[1]
ACTIONS Antiviral-especially useful when treating influenza, antipyretic, anticoagulant (bruises), hemostatic.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Pregnancy
PREPARATIONS: Decoction 4-12 g.[1]
