五苓散 Wǔ líng sǎn
FUNCTIONS
1. Promotes diuresis, drains Dampness, strengthens the Spleen, warms the Yang and promotes the transforming functions of Qi
INDICATIONS
1. Spleen deficiency with fluid retention: Oliguria or urinary difficulty, edema, sensation of general bodily heaviness, fluid retention, poor appetite, diarrhea T- white slippery coat P- slippery floating or weak floating or weak slow deep.
APPLICATIONS: Nephritis, edema as cites from Liver cirrhosis, infectious hepatitis, Meniere's disease, gastroptosis, gastrectasis, acute gastroenteritis, acute enteritis, glaucoma, chronic urticaria, migraine, genito-urinary infections, neurogenic bladder syndrome, hydrocele.
INGREDIENTS
Cinnamomum cassia- 桂枝 Guì zhī Cinnamon twigs/sticks
Atractylodes macrocephala 白术 Bái zhú- White Atractylodes
Poria cocos- 茯苓 Fú líng- Hoelen wood fungus
Polyporus umbellatus- 猪苓 Zhū líng- Umbellate Pore wood fungus
Alisma plantago- 泽泻 Zé xiè- Water plantain tuber, Alisma
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Yin deficiency
COMMENTS: This formula helps to resolve patterns of Dampness by draining the accumulated fluids through the urine.
