Primary Points

St 1- Chengqi**
INDICATIONS:
1. Redness with swelling and painful eyes. Acute and chronic conjunctivitis. Lacrimation when attacked by wind. Night blindness.. Myopia. Hypermetropia. Astigmatism. Convergent squint-esotropia. Color blindness. Glaucoma. Inflammation or atrophy of the optic nerve. Cataract.  Keratitis. Retinitis. Pigmentosa.
2. Facial paralysis. Twitching of eyelids.
LOCATION: Between the eyeball and the midpoint of the infraorbital ridge
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.7 inch along the infraorbital rdge. It is not advisable to manipulate the needle with large amplitude (Ess).

St 2 Sibai**
FUNCTIONS: Dispel Wind and brighten eyes, relax tendons, spreads the Liver Qi and benefits the GB, relieves pain.
INDICATIONS
1. Facial paralysis, spasms or pain.. Redness and pain of the eye.Twitching of eyelids. Trigeminal neuralgia. Keratitis. Allergic facial swelling.
2. Sinusitis.
3. Myopia. Round worms in the bile duct.
LOCATION: Below Chingqi- St1, in the depression at the infraorbital foramen.
METHOD: Perp 0.2-0.3 inch. Deep puncture is contraindicated (Ess).

St 4 Dicang**
FUNCTION: Eliminate pathogenic Wind, invigorate Jingluo, remove obstruction from and soothe joints.
INDICATIONS
1. Excessive salivation..
2. Twitching of eyelids..
3. Deviation of the mouth. Facial paralysis. Trigeminal neuralgia.
LOCATION: Lateral to the corner of the mouth, directly below Nose-Juliao- St 3.
METHOD: Obliquely 0.5-1 inch with the tip of the needle directed towards Jiache- St 6.

St 6 Jiache**
FUNCTION: Clear Jingluo, pacify Wind, regulate circulation of Qi. Clears Heat from Yangming. Benefits teeth and jaws.
INDICATIONS
1. Facial paralysis.. Swelling of the cheek. Toothache.. Trismus. Pain and stiffness of the neck. Temperomandibular arthritis. Spasm of the masseter muscle.
2. Mumps. Parotitis.
LOCATION: One finger breadth anterior and superior to the lower angle of the mandible where the masseter muscle attaches at the prominence of the muscle when the teeth are clenched.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.5 inch or obliquely towards Dicang- St 4 (Ess).

St 7- Xiaguan **
FUNCTIONS:  Eliminate pathogenic Wind, invigorate Jingluo, remove obstruction from and soothe joints.
1. Facial paralysis.. Toothache.. Motor impairment of the jaw. Temperomandibular arthritis. Spasms of the masseter muscle. Trigeminal neuralgia.
2. Deafness.. Tinnitus. Otorrhea. Otitis media.
LOCATION: In the depression at the lower border of the zygomatic arch, anterior to the condyloid process of the mandible. This point is located with the mouth closed.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.5 inch (Ess).

St 8- Touwei**
FUNCTION: Dispel Wind, relieve pain and brighten the eyes. Dizziness.
1. Headache. Migraine. Facial paralysis.
2. Blurring of vision. Opthalmalgia. Lacrimation when attacked by Wind.
3. Psychosis.
LOCATION: 0.5 cun within the anterior hairline at the corner of the forehead, 4.5 cun lateral to the Du channel.
METHOD: 0.5-1 inch along the scalp with the tip of the needle directed horizontally upward or downward (Ess).

St 9- Renying**
FUNCTION: Regulates Xue and Qi, benefits the throat.
1. Sore throat. Asthma.. Distension and soreness in the throat. Speech impediment.Flushing of face.  Goiter.
2. Dizziness.
3. High or low blood pressure.
LOCATION: Level with the tip of the Adam's apple, just on the course of the common carotid artery, on the anterior border of the sternocleidomastoideus muscle.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.5 inch (Ess).

St 21- Liangmen **
FUNCTION: Promote the function of Stomach and Spleen. Epigastric pain when pain where is more lateral.
1. Gastric pain. Vomiting. Anorexia. Loose stools. Stomach ache. Stomach ulcers. Acute and chronic gastritis. Nervous dysfunctions of the stomach.
LOCATION: 4 cun above the umbilicus, 2 cun lateral to Zhongwan- CV 12.
METHOD: Perp 0.7-1 inch (Ess).

St 25- Tianshu**
FUNCTION: Regulates and facilitates the function of the intestines.
INDICATIONS
1. Remove stasis and stagnation of Qi and Xue. Regulate menstruation. Abdominal pain. Diarrhea. Dysentery.. Constipation.. Borborygmus. Abdominal distension. Acute or chronic gastritis or enteritis. Intestinal paralysis. Peritonitis. Round worm in the intestinal tract.
2. Low back pain.
3. Irregular menstruation. Endometritis.
4. Edema.
LOCATION: 2 cun lateral to the centre of the umbilicus.
METHOD: Perp 0.7-1.2 inches (Ess).

St 28- Shuidao **
FUNCTIONS: Eliminates Damp-Heat from lower Jiao. Good for edema
INDICATIONS
1. Retention of urine.. Nephritis. Cystitis. Orchitis.
2. Lower abdominal distension. Hernia. Ascites.
LOCATION: 3 cun below the umbilicus, 2 cun lateral to Guanyuan- Ren 4.
METHOD: Perp 0.7-1.2 inches (Ess).

St 29- Guilai**
FUNCTIONS: Used for dysmenorrhea. Moves stagnation of Qi and Blood. Removes Blood stasis from uterus.
INDICATIONS
1, Abdominal pain. Hernia. Amenorrhea. Prolapse of uterus. Irregular menstruation. Inflammation of the uterine tissue. Endometritis. Orchitis.
LOCATION: 4 cun below the umbilicus, 2 cun lateral to Zhongji- Ren 3
METHOD: Perp 0.7-1.2 inches (Ess).

St 30- Qichong **
1. Hernia..  Pain and swelling of the external genitalia. Irregular menstruation. Diseases of the reprductive organs.
LOCATION: 5 cun below the umbilicus, 2 cun lateral to Qugu Ren 2.
METHOD: Perp 0.5-1 inch (Ess)

St 31- Biguan**
FUNCTIONS: Important for Qi circulation in the legs.
1. Pain in the thigh. Muscular atrophy. Motor impairment. Numbness and pain of the lower extremities.. Lymphadenitis of the inguinal lymph glands. Arthritis of the knee. Low back pain.
LOCATION: Directly below the anterior superior iliac spine, in the depression on the lateral side of the sartorius muscle when the thigh is flexed. Level with the lower border of the symphysis  pubis
METHOD: Perp 1-1.5 inches (Ess).

St 32- Femur Futu**
FUNCTIONS: Similar to Biguan but less used.
INDICATIONS
1. Paralysis or motor impairment and pain of the lower extremities.. Pain in the lumbar and iliac region. Coldness of the knee. Arthritis of the knee.
2. Urticaria.
3. Beriberi.
LOCATION: 6 cun above the laterosuperior border of the patella, on the line connecting the anterior superior iliac spine and lateral border of the patella.
METHOD: Perp 1-1.5 inches (Ess).

St 34 Liangqiu**
FUNCTIONS: Xi-Cleft point -for acute problems- for severe pain-better than St 36 or Gongsun.  Pacifies St. Clears the channels.
INDICATIONS
1. Pain and swelling of the knees.. Motor impairment of the lower extremities.
2. Mastitis..
3. Gastric pain. Gastritis. Stomache ache. Diarrhea.
LOCATION: 2 cun above the laterosuperior border of the patella
METHOD: Perp 0.5-1 inch (Ess)

St 35- Dubi  (Xiyan) **
FUNCTIONS: Invigorate and clear Jingluo. To help swelling and relieve pain. Much used for knee.
1. Pain, numbness and motor impairment of the knee..
2. Beriberi.
LOCATION: Ask the patient to flex the knee. The point is in the depression below the patella and lateral to the patella ligament.
METHOD: Obliquely 0.7-1 inch with the needle directed slightly towards the medial side (Ess).

St 36 Zusanli**
FUNCTIONS:  Adjust function of the St and Sp, eliminate Wind and Damp, regulate circulation of Qi and  Xue. Strengthen weakness. Good for wrist pain.
INDICATIONS
1. Indigestion.. Gastric pain. Vomiting. Abdominal distension. Borborygmus. Diarrhea. Constipation.
Dysentery. Acute and chronic gastritis. Ulcers.  Acute and chronic enteritis. Acute pancreatitis.

FUNCTIONS:  Lower He point of Large Intestine.. Main point to treat Large Intestine organ. For chronic Large Intestine problems. Removes Damp-Heat. Relieves fullness of chest. Eliminates accumulation and stagnation.Regulates intestines and Stomach.
INDICATIONS
1. Abdominal pain and distension.. Dysentery.. Diarrhea .. Appendicitis.. Enteritis.  Gastritis. Borborygmus.

St 40 Fenglong**
FUNCTIONS: Resolve Phlegm. Tonify Spleen to remove Damp, calm the Heart and the Spirit. Eliminates Phlegm-Fire in the Stomach. Epilepsy
INDICATIONS
1.  Asthma. Excessive sputum.. Sore throat. Coughing.
2. Dizziness.. Mental disorders. Seizures.
3. Muscular atrophy. Motor impairment. Pain/ paralysis or swelling of the lower extremities.  Headache.. Swelling of the limbs.
4. Chest pain.
5.  Amenorrhea. Abnormal uterine bleeding.

LOCATION: 8 cun superior and anterior to the external malleolus, about one finger breadth posterior to Tiaokou- St 38.

St 41 Jiexi **
FUNCTIONS: Tonify St. Eliminate Cold-Damp.
INDICATIONS
1. Headache..
2. Muscular atrophy.  Motor impairment. Pain and paralysis of the lower extremities. Diseases of the ankle and surrounding soft tissues. Drop  foot.
3. Dizziness and vertigo. Mental disorder of the depressive type. Seizures.
4. Abdominal distension. Constipation. Enteritis.
5. Nephritis. Edema of the head and face.
LOCATION: At the junction of the dorsum of foot and the leg, between the tendons
of  rxtensor difitorum longus and hallucis longus, approximately at the level
of the tip of the external malleolus.
METHOD: Perp 0.5-0.7 inch (Ess).

St 44 Neiting **
FUNCTIONS: Clear fullness and Heat from St, reduce Heat, remove obstruction from intestines, promote digestive function, adjust Qi circulation, relieve pain.
INDICATIONS
1. Abdominal pain or distention. Diarrhea. Dysentery. Stomach ache. Acute and chronic enteritis. Pain of intestinal hernia.
2. Toothache.. Deviation of the mouth. Pain and swelling of the dorsum of foot. Trigeminal neuralgia.
Epistaxis. Tonsillitis.
3. Febrile diseases. Beriberi.
LOCATION: Proximal to the web margin between the 2nd and 3rd toes, in the
depression distal and lateral to the 2nd metatarsodigital joint.

St 45 Lidui*
FUNCTIONS: Disperse Heat in Yangming.
INDICATIONS
1. Dream disturbed sleep. Mental confusion. Ischemia of the brain. Hysteria. Neurasthenia.
2. Indigestion. Hepatitis.
3. Facial swelling. Deviation of the mouth. Toothache. Distending sensation of the chest and abdomen. Cold in the leg and foot.
4. Epistaxis. Tonsillitis. Febrile diseases.
LOCATION: On the lateral side of the 2nd toe, about .1 cun posterior to the corner of nail.
METHOD: Obliquely .1 inch (Ess).

St 3 Dicang*
INDICATIONS
1. Facial paralysis..Twitching of eyelids. Toothache. Swelling of lips and cheek. Trigeminal neuralgia.
2. Epistaxis. Rhinitis.
LOCATION: Directly below Sibar -St 2, at the level of the lower border of ala nasi,
on the lateral side of the nasolabial groove.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.4 inch (Ess).

St 5 Daying *
INDICATIONS
1. Trismus.. Deviation of the mouth. Swelling of the cheek. Toothache.. Facial paralysis.
2. Parotitis.
LOCATION: Anterior to the angle of mandible, on the anterior border of the masseter
muscle, in the groove like depression appearing when the cheek is bulged.
METHOD: Puncture  obliquely 0.3 inch towards Jiache- St 6. Avoid the artery.

St 10 Shuitu *
INDICATIONS
1. Sore throat.. Asthma. Diseases of the vocal chords.
2. Goiter.
LOCATION: At the anterior border of the sternocleidomastoideus muscle, midway
between Renying- St 9, and Qishe- St 11.
METHOD: Perp 0.3 -0.5 inch.

St 11 Qishe *
INDICATIONS
1. Asthma.. Sore throat. Pharyngitis. Scrofula.
2. Goiter.
LOCATION: At the superior border of the sternal extremity of the clavicle, between
the sternal head and clavicular head of the sternocleidomastoideus muscle.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.4 inch (Ess).

St 12 Quepen *
INDICATIONS
1. Pain in the supraclavicular fossa. Intercostal neuralgia.
2. Cough. Asthma. Sore throat. Scrofula.
3. Hiccoughs.
LOCATION: In the midpoint of the supraclavicular fossa, 4 cun lateral to the Ren channel.
METHOD: Perp 0.3 - 0.5 inch. Avoid the artery. Deep puncture is not advisable. (Ess)

St 13 Qihu *
INDCATIONS
1. Asthma.. Cough. Fullness of the chest. Bronchitis.
2. Intercostal neuralgia.

St 14 Kufang *

1. Facial paralysis.. Muscular atrophy and motor impairment of foot. Redness and swelling of the dorsum of the foot. Headache. Toothache. Pain on dorsum of foot. No strength in arms or legs.

3. Malaria. Fever.
LOCATION: Distal to Jiexi- St 41, at the highest point of the dorsum of foot, in the depression between the 2nd and 3rd metatarsal bones and the cuneiform bone.
METHOD: Perp 0.3 inch. Avoid the artery.

St 43- Xiangu*
FUNCTIONS: General aching- eliminate Wind.
1. Borborygmus.. Abdominal pain..
2. Facial edema.. General edema..
3. Hysteria.
