FUNCTIONS: Regulate Qi circulation, dispel pathogenic Heat,
soothe the ear. Acute sprain lower lumbar region. Stimulates thyroid.
INDICATIONS
1. Deafness.. Tinnitus.. Sore throat. Deaf-mutism.
2. Headache. Pain in the elbow and arm. Motor impairment of fingers.
Pain in the shoulder and back. Intercostal neuralgia.
3. Redness of the eyes.
4. Febrile diseases.
LOCATION: When the hand is placed with the palm facing downward,
the point is on the dorsum of hand between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones,
in the depression proximal to the metacarpophalangeal joint.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.5 inch (Ess).
SJ 4 Yangchi **
FUNCTIONS: Relax tendons, clears Jingluo, reinforce
3 Jiaos. Promotes the function of Chong Mai and Ren Mai in strengthening
Qi and controlling Xue. Relieves Heat.
INDICATIONS
1. Pain in the waist, shoulder and arm. Pain and diseases of the soft
tissues of the wrist.
2. Common cold. Tonsillitis.
3. Malaria..
4. Deafness.
LOCATION: At the junction of the ulna and carpal bones,
in the depression lateral to the tendon of extensor digitorum communis.
METHOD: Perp 0.3 inch (Ess).
SJ 5 Waiguan**
FUNCTIONS: Dispel Wind, relieve exterior and hot symptoms,
relax tendons, invigorate Jingluo, clear Yang Wei Mai.
INDICATIONS
1. Headache.. Pain in the cheek and the hypochondriac region. Motor
impairment of the elbow and arm. Pain of fingers. Hand tremor . Migraine.
Stiff neck. Hemiplegia. Pain in the joints of upper arm. Paralysis.
2. Deafness.. Tinnitus.. Common cold. Pneumonia.
3. Parotitis.
4. Enuresis.
5. Febrile diseases. High fever.
LOCATION: 2 cun above Yangchi- SJ4, between the radius and ulna.
METHOD: Perp 0.7-1 inch (Ess).
SJ 6 Zhigou**
FUNCTIONS: Regulate Qi circulation, dispel impediments, remove
obstruction from intestines. Treat hypochondrium.
INDICATIONS
1. Aching and heavy sensation of the shoulder and back. Pain in the
shoulder and arm. Intercostal neuralgia.
2. Vomiting. Constipation. Habitual constipation.
3. Sudden hoarseness of voice. Tinnitus. Deafness.
4. Angina pectoris.
5. Insufficient lactation.
6. Pleurisy.
LOCATION: 3 cun above Yangchi (SJ4), between the ulna and radius.
METHOD: Perp 0.7-1 inch (Ess).
SJ 8 Sanyangluo**
FUNCTIONS: Clear Jingluo and sensory orifices.
INDICATIONS
1. Pain in the arm.. Pain in the hand. Post-operative pain associated
with pneumonectomy.
2. Deafness..
3. Sudden hoarsness of voice. Aphasia.
LOCATION: 4 cun above Yangchi- SJ4, between the radius and ulna.
METHOD: Perp 0.5-1 inch (Ess).
SJ 9 Sidu **
INDICATIONS:
1. Pain in the forearm.. Headache. Paralysis of upper arm.
2. Toothache..
3. Neurasthenia. Vertigo.
4. Nephritis.
5. Sudden hoarseness of voice.
6. Deafness.
LOCATION: 5 cun below the olecranon, between the radius
and ulna.
METHOD: Perp 0.5-1 inch (Ess).
SJ 10 Tianjing**
INDICATIONS
1. Unilateral headache. Pain in the costal and hypochrondriac region,
neck and arm. Diseases of the soft tissues of the elbow.
2. Scrofula..Sha-Use moxa. Tonsillitis.
3. Migraine headache.
4. Seizures.
5. Urticaria.
LOCATION: When the elbow is flexed, the point is in the depression
about 1 cun superior to the olecranon.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.5 inch (Ess).
SJ 14 Jianliao**
FUNCTIONS: Relax tendons, clears Jingluo, soothe the joints.
INDICATIONS:
1. Heavy sensation of the shoulder. Pain in the arm. Hemiplegia. Pain
in the shoulder joint. Perifocal inflammation of shoulder joint.
2. Hypertension.
3. Excessive sweating.
LOCATION: Posterior nad inferior to the acromion, in the depression
about 1 cun
posterior to Jianyu (LI15).
METHOD: Perp or obliquely dwnward 0.7-1 inch (Ess).

SJ 16 Tianyou**
INDICATIONS
1. Stiff neck..
2. Sudden deafness. Tinnitus. Deafness.
3. Dizziness.
4. Blurring of vision.
5. Facial swelling.
6. Sore throat
LOCATION: Posterior and inferior to the mastoid process, on
the posterior border of sternocleidomastoideus muscle, level with Tainrong-
SI17 and Tanzhu- UB10.
METHOD: Perp. 0.3-0.5 inch (Ess).
SJ 17 Yifeng **
FUNCTIONS: Dispel Wind, clears Jingluo, Benefits hearing
and vision. Much used for facial paralysis.
INDICATIONS
1. Tinnitus.. Deafness.. Deaf-mutism.
2. Facial paralysis.. Trismus. Swelling of the cheek. Temperomandibular
arthritis.
3. Toothache.
4. Parotitis.
5. Sore eyes.
LOCATION: Posterior to the lobule of the ear, in the depression
between the mandible and mastoid process.
METHOD: Perp 0.5-1 inch (Ess).
SJ 21 Ermen**
FUNCTIONS : Opens the ears. Disperses Heat.
INDICATIONS
1. Deafness.. Tinnitus.. Otorrhea. Pus in the ear.
2. Pain in the jaw and headache.
3. Toothache. Toothache in the upper jaw.
LOCATION: In the depression anterior to the supratragic
notch and slightly superior to the condyloid process of the mandible. The
point is located with the mouth open.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.5 inch (Ess).
SJ 23 Sizhukong **
FUNCTIONS: Dispel Wind, stop pain, clear Fire, brighten the eyes.
INDICATIONS
1. Blurring of vision. Redness and pain of the eye. Twitching of the eyelid.
Eye diseases.
2. Headache.. Facial paralysis.
LOCATION: In the depression at the lateral end of the eyebrow.
METHOD: Posteriorly 0.3 inch horizontally alon the skin (Ess).

SJ 1 Guanchong *
INDICATIONS
1. Sore throat. Stiffness of the tongue. Laryngitis.
2. Headache..
3. Febrile diseases.. Irratibility.
4. Redness of the eyes. Conjunctivitis.
LOCATION: On the lateral side of the ring finger, about .1 cun posterior
to the corner of the nail.
METHOD: Obliquely 0.1 inch, or prick with three edged needle to cause
bleeding (Ess).
SJ 2 Yemen*
INDICATIONS
1. Headache.. Pain in the hand and arm.. Pain and swelling of the fingers.
2. Deafness..
3. Malaria..
4 . Sore throat. Laryngopharyngitis.
5 . Redness of the eyes.
LOCATION: Proximal to the margin of the web between the ring and
small finger. The point is located with clenched fist.
METHOD: Obliquely 0.3-0.5 inch towards the interspace of the metacarpal
bones (Ess).
SJ 7 Huizong*
INDICATIONS
1. Pain of the arm..
2. Seizures..
Deafness..
LOCATION: 3 cun proximal to the wrist, about one finger-breadth
lateral to Zhigou (SJ6), on the radial side of the ulna.
METHOD: Perp 0.5-1 inch (Ess).
SJ 11 Qinglengyuan *
INDICATIONS
1. Pain in the shoulder and arm.. Headache.
2. Pain of the eyes.
LOCATION: 1 cun above Tianjing (SJ10-1 cun above the olecranon).
METHOD: Perp 0.3 inch (Ess).
SJ 12 Xiaoluo*
INDICATIONS
1. Headache.. Stiffness and pain of the neck.. Pain in the arm..
2. Toothache.
3. Seizures.
LOCATION: On the line joining the olecranon and Jianliao (SJ14), midway
between Qinglenguan (SJ11) and Naohui (SJ13). It is just on the lower end of
the bulge of the lateral head of triceps brachii when the forearm is in pronation.
METHOD: Perp 0.5-0.7 inch (Ess).
SJ 13 Naohui*
INDICATIONS
1. Pain in the shoulder and arm..
2. Goite.
LOCATION: On the line joining Jianliao (SJ14) and the olecranon, 3 cun
below Jianliao (SJ14), on the posterior border of deltoid muscle.
METHOD: Perp 0.5-0.8 inch (Ess).
SJ 15 Tianliao*
INDICATIONS
1. Pain in the shoulder and arm. Pain and stiffness of the neck. Inflammation
of the supraspinatus tendon. Pain or soreness in
the region of the scapula and back of neck.
2. Fever.
LOCATION: Midway between Jainjing (GB21) and Quyuan (SI13), on the superior
angle of the scapula.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.5 inch (Ess).
SJ 18 Qimai*
INDICATIONS
1. Tinnitus.. Deafness..
2. Headache..
3. Infantile convulsions.
LOCATION: In the centre of the mastoid process, at the junction of the
middle and lower third of the curve formed by Yifeng (SJ17), and Jiaosun (SJ20)
posterior to the helix.
METHOD: Obliquely 0.1 inch, or prick to cause bleeding (Ess).
SJ 19 Luxi*
INDICATIONS
1. Tinnitus.. Earache. Otitis media.
2. Headache..
3. Vomiting.
LOCATION: Posterior to hte ear, at the junction of the upper and middle
third of the curve formed by Yifeng (SJ17) and Jiaosun (SJ20).
METHOD: Obliquely 0.1 inch (Ess).
SJ 20 Jiaosun*
INDICATIONS
1. Redness and swelling of the ear. Red and swollen earlobe. )
2. Toothache..
3. Redness, swelling and pain of the eye. Pannus. Patotitis: formed superficial
tissue over the eye
LOCATION: Directly above the ear apex, within the hairline of the temple.
METHOD: Obliquely downward 0.1 inch (Ess).
SJ 22 Heliao*
INDICATIONS
1. Headache. Heavy sensation of the head. Lockjaw. Trigeminal neuralgia. Facial
paralysis.
2. Tinnitis.
3. Rhinitis.
LOCATION: Anterior and superior to Ermen (SJ21), level with the root
of the auricle, on the posterior border of the hairline of the temple where
the superificial temporal artery passes.
METHOD: Obliquely 0.1-0.3 inch. Avoid the artery (Ess).
