LI 4- Hegu **
FUNCTIONS: Eliminate Wind-Heat and Wind Cold, to relieve exterior symptoms. Activate the dispersing function of the Lung. Activate the function of the intestines, and relieve pain. All symptoms of the face. Clears Jingluo.
1. Face problems- Facial paralysis.. Headache.. Redness with swelling and pain of the eye.  Toothache. Facial swelling. Epistaxis. Diseases of  the sensory organs.
2. Sore throat. Common cold.
3. Contracture of fingers. Pain of the arm. Trismus.  Hemiplegia. Pain in general.
4. Amenorrhea. Delayed labour.
5. Abdominal pain. Constipation. Dysentery.
6. Neurasthenia.
7. Febrile disease with anhydrosis. Hydrosis.
LOCATION: Between the 1st and 2nd metacarpal bones, approximately in the middle of  the 2nd metacarpal bone on the radial side. Or, place in coincident position the transverse crease of the interphalangeal joint of the thumb with the margin of the web bwtween the thumb and the index finger of the other hand. The point is where the tip of the thumb touches.
METHOD: Perp 0.5-0.8 inch(Ess).

LI 5- Yangxi **
INDICATIONS
1. Headache.. Toothache.. Pain of the wrist..
2. Redness with swelling and pain of the eye..
3. Sore throat. Tinnitis. Deafness.
4. Infantile indigestion.
LOCATION: On the radial side of the wrist. When the thumb is tilted upward, it is in the depression between the tendons of m. extensor pollicis longus and brevis.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.5 inch (Ess).

LI 10- Shousanli **
FUNCTIONS: Very much used for arm problems. Edema of the arms
INDICATIONS:
1. Abdominal pain.. Vomiting. Diarrhea.. Ulcer. Stomache-ache. Indigestion.
2. Pain in the shoulder region.. Motor impairment of the upper extremities.. Pain in the arm.
LOCATION:  2 cun below Quchi- LI 11.
METHOD: Perp 1-1.2 inch (Ess).

LI 11 Quche **
FUNCTIONS: Eliminate Wind-Heat and exterior conditions, regulate circulation of  Qi and Blood.Remove obstruction from and soothe the joints. Cooling point for internal Heat as well as Wind-Heat High blood pressure, skin disease, Heat in Large Intestine. Much used for Wind-stroke.
INDICATIONS
1. Abdominal pain. Vomiting. Diarrhea Dysentery.
2. Pain of the elbow and arm.. Motor impairment of the upper extremities. Paralysis. Hemiplegia.
3. Hypertension.
4. Urticaria. Skin diseases.
5. Scrofula. Sore throat.
6. Febrile diseases.. Measles. Anemia. Allergies. Goiter.
LOCATION: When the elbow is flexed, the point is in the depression at the lateral end of the transverse cubital crease, midway between Chize Lu5 and the lateral epicondyle of the humerus.
METHOD: Perp 1-1.5 inches (Ess).

LI 12- Zhouliao **
INDICATIONS
1. Pain in the elbow and arm, inflammation of the lateral epicondyle of the humerus.
2. Pain, contracture and numbness of the elbow and arm. Pain in the elbow and arm. Inflamation of the lateral epicondyle of the humerus.
LOCATION: When the elbow is flexed, the point is superior to the lateral epicondyle of the humerus, about 1 cun superolateral to Quchi- LI 11, on the medial border of the humerus.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.5 inch (Ess).

LI 14 Binao **
FUNCTIONS: Arm and shoulder problems. Upwards insertion for eye problems. Clears channels.
INDICATIONS
1. Pain in the shoulder and arm.. Paralysis of the upper limb.
2. Eye diseases.
3. Scrofula.
LOCATION: On the radial side of the humerus, superior to the lower end of the deltoid, on the line connecting Quchi and Jianyu.
METHOD: Perp or obliquely upward 0.5-0.7 inch.(Ess)

LI15- Jianyu **
FUNCTIONS: Eliminate Wind and clear Jingluo. Soothe the joints.
INDICATIONS
1. Pain of the shoulder and arm.. Motor impairment of the upper extremities.
2. Much used in Wind-stroke. Hemiplegia.
3. Hypertension.
4. Excessive sweating.
5. Scrofula.
6. Rubella.
LOCATION: Anteroinferior to the acromion, in the middle of the upper portion of the deltoid muscle. When the arm is in full abduction, the point is in the antierior depression of the two depressions appearing at the anterior border of the acromioclavicular joint.

LI 16 Jugu **
FUNCTIONS: Disperses Xue stagnation and clears the channels.
INDICATIONS
1. Pain in the shoulder.. Pain and motor impairment of the upper extremities.
2. Spitting blood. Scrofula.
LOCATION: In the upper aspect of the shoulder, in the depression between the
acromial extremity of the clavicle and the scapular spine.
METHOD: Perp 0.5-0.7 inch (Ess)

LI 18 Neck Futu **
FUNCTIONS: Stop cough and soothe asthma. To ease the throat and treat goiter.
INDICATIONS
1. Sore  throat.. Hoarse of voice.. Cough. Asthma.  Scrofula. Wheezing. Excessive mucus.
2. Difficult swallowing (Sha)
3. Goiter. Used for anesthesia during thyroid operation.
LOCATION: On the lateral side of the neck, level with the tip of Adam's apple, between the sternal head and clavicular hear of the sternocleidomastoideus muscle.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.5 inch.

LI 19 Nose Heliao **
INDICATIONS
1. Epistaxis.. Nasal obstruction. Rhinitis.
2. Deviation of the mouth. Facial paralysis.
LOCATION: Directly below the lateral margin of the nostril, level with Renzhong- Du 26.
METHOD: Obliquely 0.2-0.3 inch (Ess).

LI 20 Yingxiang **
FUNCTIONS:  Dispel Wind-Heat. Opens nasal passages.
INDICATIONS
1. Nasal obstruction. Epistaxis. Rhinorrhea. Rhinitis. Nasosinusitis.
2. Deviation of the mouth. Facial paralysis. Itching and swelling of the face.
3. Round worm in the bile duct.
LOCATION: In the nasolabial groove, at the level of the midpoint of the lateral border of ala nasi.
METHOD: Obliquely downward 0.3 inch (Ess).

LI 1 Shangyang *
FUNCTIONS: Clear Wind-Heat. Emergency- stroke (as all other Jing points)
INDICATIONS
1. Sore throat.. Deafness.
2. Toothache.. Swelling of the submandibular region. Numbness of fingers..
3. Febrile diseases..
4. Loss of Consciousness. Aploplectic coma.
LOCATION: On the radial side of the index finger, about 0.1 cun posterior to the corner of the nail.
METHOD: Obliquely 0.1 inch, or prick with three-edges needle to cause bleeding.

LI 2 Erjian *
INDICATIONS
1. Epistaxis.. Sore throat.. Febrile diseases.
2. Toothache.. Facial paralysis. Trigeminal neuralgia.
3. Blurring of vision.
 

LI 3 Sanjian *
INDICATIONS
1. Trigeminal neuralgia.. Redness and swelling of fingers and the dorsum of the hand. Inflamation of the index finger.
2. Sore throat.. Toothache..
3. Opthalmalgia..
4. Malaria.

LI 6 Pianli *
INDICATIONS
1. Aching of the hand and arm.. Facial paralysis.
2. Epistaxis.. Deafness. Tonsillitis.
3. Edema.

LI 7 Wenliu *
INDICATIONS
1. Headache. Facial swelling. Aching of the shoulder and arm. Facial paralysis.
2. Borborygmus. Abdominal pain. Stomatitis.
3. Sore throat. Parotitis. Glossitis (Inflammation of the tongue). Sore throat.

LI 8 Xialian *
INDICATIONS
1. Pain in the elbow and arm..
2. Abdominal pain..
3. Vertigo.
4. Painful eyes.
5. Headache.
6. Mastitis.
LOCATION: 4 cun below Quchi- LI 11
METHOD: Punctue perpendicularly 0.5-0.8 inch (Ess).

LI 9 Shanglian *
INDICATIONS
1. Borborygmus.. Abdominal pain..
2. Aching of the shoulder region. Motor impairment of the upper extremities. Numbness of the hand and arm. Hemiplegia. Sprain. Numbness of the arms and legs. Hemiplegia, sprain, numbness of the arms and legs,
LOCATION: 3 cun below Quchi LI 11.
METHOD: Perp 1-1.2 inches.

LI 13 Hand- Wuli *
INDICATIONS
1. Contracture and pain of the elbow and arm..
2. Scrofula.. Coughing blood Pneumonia.
3. Peritonitis.
LOCATION: Superior to the lateral epicondyle of the humerus,  3 cun above Quche LI 11
on the ine connecting Quchi- LI 11 and Jianyu- LI 15
METHOD: No needling (Ess) ?

LI 17- Tianding *
INDICATIONS
1. Sore throat. Hoarseness of voice. Scrofula.. Tonsillitis. Laryngitis.
2. Paralysis of the hypoglossus muscle .
3. Goiter.
LOCATION: On the lateral side of the neck, superior to the midpoint of the supraclavicular fossa.
METHOD: Perp 0.3-0.5 inch (Ess).
