CV 4 Guanyuan**
FUNCTIONS: Promote the function of the Ki, tonify Yuan Qi, regulate
menstrual flow. Much used for dysmenorrhoea. Restores Yang. Regulates Qi.
INDICATIONS
1. Enuresis.. Dysmenorrhea.. Leukorrhea.. Prolapse of uterus.. Irregular
menstruation.. Seminal emission. Frequency of micturition. Retention of
urine. Amenorrhea. Uterine bleeding. Postpartum hemorrhage. Hernia. Urinary

LOCATION: On the midline of the abdomen, 3 cun below the umbilicus.
METHOD: Perp .8-1.2 inch. Moxibustion may be applied fairly long and

CV 6 Qihai**
FUNCTIONS: Regulate Qi circulation, tonify Xu Kidneys, dispel Dampness.
INDICATIONS
1. Abdominal pain.. Hernia. Diarrhea. Constipation. Abdominal
distention. Intestinal paralysis.
2. Irregular menstruation.. Abnormal uterine bleeding. Leukorrhea.
Postpartum hemorrhage. Enuresis. Dysmenorrhea. Incontinence. Polyuria. Urinary
retention. Spermatorrhea. Impotence.
3. Flaccid type of apoplexy. Neurasthenia.
4. Edema.
LOCATION: On the midline of the abdomen, 1.5 cun below the umbilicus.
METHOD: Perp 0.8-1.2 inch. Moxibustion may be appled often (Ess).
CV 8 Shenque**
FUNCTIONS: Warms and stabilizes the Yang, strengthens the transporting
function of the Spleen and Stomach.
INDICATIONS
1. Chronic diarrhea.. Borborygmus. Abdominal pain. Prolapse of rectum. Acute
and chronic enteritis. Intestinal tuberculosis. Shock resulting from intestinal
adhesions. Prolapsed anus.
2. Flaccid type of apoplexy.
3. Edema.
LOCATION: In the centre of the umbilicus.
METHOD: Puncture is contraindicated. Moxibustion is applied with large
cones, 5-15 in number, or with moxa stick for 5-15 min (Ess).
CV 12 Zhongwan**
FUNCTIONS: Regulate Stomach Qi, tonify Spleen, relieve retention of
food, eliminate Dampness, subdue ascending Qi of Stomach.
INDICATIONS:
1. Abdominal distention.. Vomiting.. Gastric pain. Regurgitation. Diarrhea.
Dysentery. Stool with undigested food. Gastritis. Gastric ulcers. Prolapsed
stomach. Acute intestinal obstruction. Stomach ache. Diarrhea. Constipation.

CV 17 Shanzhong**
FUNCTIONS: Regulate Qi circulation, subdue ascending Qi of
St, dispel fullness from chest, soothe diaphragm clear the Lung, resolve
phegm.

1. Cough. Asthma. Sudden hoarseness of voice. Sore throat. Bronchial asthma.

LOCATION: In the centre of the suprasternal fossa.

INDICATIONS
1. Facial paralysis.. Hemiplegia.

LOCATION: In the depression in the centre of the mentolabial groove.
METHOD: Obliquely upward 0.2-0.3 inch (Ess).

1. Aphasia with stiffness of tongue. Sudden hoarseness of voice. Difficulty

2. Swelling of the subglossal region. Paralysis of hypoglossus
muscles.
2. Salivation with glossoplegia.
LOCATION: Above the Adams apple, in the depression at the upper border
of the hyoid bone.
