Vomiting
Vomiting is due to dysfunction of the Stomach in digestion
and transportation. The Qi of the Stomach ascends instead of descends. Causative
factors are:
1. Overeating and retention of Cold and fatty food.
2. Perversion of Qi of Liver due to anger affecting the function of Stomach
3. Weakness of the spleen and Stomach
Differentiation
1. Retention of Food: Epigastric and abdominal distension or pain, acid
fermented vomitus, belching, anorexia, constipation, foul gas. T- thickly
coated and sticky. P- rolling and forceful.
2. Invasion of Stomach by Qi of the Liver: vomiting, acid regurgitation,
continual belching, distending pain in hypochondriac region. T- Thinly coated
and sticky. P-Wiry
3. Weakness of spleen and Stomach: Sallow complexion, vomiting after eating
a very full meal, lack of appetite, slightly loose stools, general lassitude.
P- Forceless. T- Thinly coated, sticky.
Treatment
Points of the Stomach Channel are the main points. When retention of food
or invasion of the Stomach by Qi and Liver is at fault, needling is given
with reducing method. For weakness of Spleen and Stomach, needling is given
with reinforcing method combined with moxibustion.
Points
Zusanli- St 36 He-Sea point of the Stomach channel.
Zhongwan- Ren 12 Front-Mu point of the Stomach. Both together
regulate the Stomach Qi
Neiguan- P6 Master point of
Yin Wei mai
Gongsun- Sp 4 Master point of Chong mai Both
together relieve the feeling of fullness in the chest and Stomach.
Retention of Food: Tianshu: St 25 Relieves intestinal obstruction.
Invasion of Stomach by Qi of Liver: Taichong- Liv 3 - Reducing method-
activates the function of the Liver.
Weakness of Spleen and Stomach: Pishu- UB 20 Reinforcing method- activates
the Spleen.
