Jaundice
Etiology
Dysfunction of the Spleen and Stomach in transporting and transforming leads to internal accumulation of Damp which impedes the normal excretion of bile causing a yellowish discoloration of the skin. There are two types of jaundice;
1. Jaundice of Yang type in which Damp Heat is dominant.
2. Jaundice of Yin type in which Cold Damp is dominant.
Differentiation

Jaundice of Yang type is usually accompanied with fever, a heavy sensation of the body, thirst, fullness in the abdomen, yellow sticky coated tongue and wiry rapid pulse.
Jaundice of Yin type is usually accompanied by heavy sensation of the body, lassitude, somnolence, absence of thirst, thick white coated tongue and deep slow pulse.
